Is the societal trend towards egocentricity and self-absorbtion making dating more and more difficult?
Clare Luna asked:
Is consumerism and shows such as *** The City leading to obsession with oneself and overinflated ideas of one’s abilities? Is this leading to demands for higher standards from a potential mate? Is this making dating in general a very difficult activity with many people preferring to stay alone rather than ’settle’ for less than one’s ideal?

I would have to say that, in general, those are all correct statements.

As to ‘less than ones ideal’, I would say, yes, I feel that way. There’s a girl (well, woman) I quite like, but she’s kinda not so well educated. I still like her though - but I guess I don’t really want her for my spouse. IDK. I waver a bit. I don’t care if she is less educated than myself - she’s quite kind and we get along VERY well. We’ll see . . .
